Nurturing Future Mariners: DSS Champions the "Adopt a Ship" Program

Diana Shipping Services (DSS) proudly supports the "Adopt a Ship" program, connecting school pupils with seafarers to foster understanding of the maritime profession. For three years, DSS has linked three vessels – M/V Ismene, M/V Los Angeles, and M/V Atalandi – with schools across Greece.

Students pair with vessels for an academic year, communicating weekly with the crew via email or video calls. Captains and crew members share insights into their daily lives at sea, offering a unique glimpse into the maritime sector's challenges and rewards.

DSS facilitates communication between Captains Dimitra Baltzi, Panagiotis Michalas, and Lamprinakos Panagiotis and students from various Greek schools. These interactions provide invaluable learning opportunities about life onboard, cargo transportation, trading patterns, geography, and culture.

The "Adopt a Ship" program aligns with DSS's 'social' pillar in our "Together for Good" program, emphasizing our commitment to community engagement and education. By connecting seafarers and students, we highlight the vital contributions of seafarers and shipping companies to society, while inspiring the next generation to pursue maritime careers.
